🎓 Cybersecurity Capstone Completed!
Today marks the completion of my capstone project for my Bachelor of Science in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity at the University of Maryland Global Campus. This class, taken in the last 9 credits of my degree, is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. With only two more classes (6 credits) remaining, I will officially be ready to graduate on December 10, 2024.
As a 100% disabled veteran, I’ve navigated some unique challenges along this journey. Managing bipolar 1 disorder has been one of the most intense and difficult aspects of my life, but it has not stopped me. I proudly stand here as a stable individual of sound character, a great dad, and someone who continues to perform at a high level. I believe it’s time to remove the stigma surrounding chronic mental illnesses—I’m proof that it doesn’t limit capability, and I'm done talking about my challenges in hushed tones as if I'm somehow less. My condition has not prevented me from excelling and outperforming expectations in both my personal and professional life.
On this journey, I’ve been through marriage, divorce, military service, raising a child, working multiple IT jobs, mentoring others, and overcoming mental health challenges. Along the way, I earned certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+, which, together with work and school, have helped me hone skills in many different areas such as hardware troubleshooting, computer networking, cloud technologies, ethical hacking, cybersecurity management, and protecting both homeland and private sector security.
This year has been one of immense growth. As I look toward 2025, I know it’s going to be a transformative year—a year in which I truly step into my power. I’m ready for new challenges and opportunities.
